If you're current, is your xsrc/installation up-to-date or are you
using modular x.org?

Everything (including in-tree xs
rc) is 6.99.10, and up-to-date as of  2012-08-11 at 15:35:37

Which driver?

From my X log:

...
[1464368.234] (II) Loading /usr/X11R7/lib/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.so
[1464368.235] (II) Module radeon: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
[1464368.235]   compiled for 1.10.3, module version = 6.14.4
[1464368.235] Module class: X.Org Video Driver
[1464368.235] ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 10.0
...

And lspci identifies the video card as

05:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV620
LE [Radeon HD 3450]

There was a similar bug in the Radeon driver that was fixed by
importing a newer version.
