I agree, so I'm happy to say that with bob v0.5.0 which dropped a few minutes ago this should be much much simpler, and a lot faster. Here's an example config and session, using latest pkgsrc from a few minutes ago:

This should be 100% compatible with pbulk, and I've optimised the resolver so that it runs a lot faster. Comparing against the same 'pscan' file, pbulk-resolve takes 66.6 seconds while bob took just 2.1 seconds, with identical output.
If you'd like any additional functionality for the scan phase just let me know. Oh, and if someone could fix the php-imap issue that'd be grand ;)
