This is probably an interrupt problem, not a Cardbus problem.   My
guess would be that IRQ 5 belongs to a device that's disabled in the
BIOS and thus doesn't probe, but that still masks the interrupt.   Try
configuring a kernel that specifies what interrupt the card should be
at, and choose an interrupt that you know is safe.
