I've almost done to split and convert the ISA front-end of fe* driver
to use separate bus'ified MB8696x driver.  Now they are fmv* for
FMV-180 series, ate* for Allied Telesis AT1700 etc, and mbe* for
generic MB8696x card (such as pcmcia card).

Since I myself don't have such ISA card, I want someone to test them.
So, if you are currently using fe* and can test it, please get in
touch with me.
