At the risk of asking a really silly question, why don't we just change the
default probe address for the mcd driver. I know that sound cards tend to
give a pretty limited range of addresses, but I've noticed that 0x320 and
0x340 seem to be pretty well supported. (IIRC, 0x340 is either the BSDi or
Linux default address for the Mitsumi.)
