I dont know why but I with the latest patch I can see following text when I  boot my computer:
Fn: diskn

Then I press enter and it jumps right to the boot menu.

I see that on one of my systems,
 too, but not all. I just assumed it was  something that the BIOS was doing before loading the NetBSD boot code, asking  me to (for example) 'press F1 to boot disk1'.

Now that you've reported the same message, I'm not so sure.

That means you've installed mbr_
bootsel, the boot selector. See this  fragment of mbr.S:
#ifndef NO_BANNER
#ifdef BOOTSEL
#ifdef COM_PORT
banner: .asciz  "a: disk"
#else
banner: .asciz  "Fn: diskn"
#endif
#else
banner: .asciz  "NetBSD MBR boot"
#endif
#endif
