The EFI boot loader is a different beast — the notion of “boot blocks” doesn’t even really exist in the EFI environment. The boot loader is just a program, like any other EFI program, that just happens to be loaded by EFI when the operating system is booted. There’s no stuffing the right thing into a special sector on the disk. It’s entirely reasonable to expect to upgrade the boot loader when upgrading the operating system. -- thorpej
