I've no experience with NetBSD on SGI I'm just a lurker, but one thing comes to 
mind that was a NOOB type issue with me once and that was the sample rate 
setting for the audio, I was running 48 KHz at 44.1 KHz or vice versa, I forget 
which...just a thought
