what version of NetBSD are you running?

i bet the data/stack/etc limits are too small for this.  these
limits were recently increated on NetBSD/sparc (maybe 1.2B?) by
pk, but, 1.2 and 1.2.1 do not have this change.

in sys/arch/sparc/include/vmparam.h, you might want to change
things to what they are in -current, if you're running something
older.
