The New York City *BSD User Group (nycbug.org) will be holding NYCBSDCon 2014 on February 8th, focused on the BSDs in production environments. The day conference, to be held from 9 AM until 6 PM, will take place at Suspenders Restaurant located at 111 Broadway in downtown Manhattan. The theme of the conference speaks to the vital role that FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD play in the current infrastructures. Topics and speakers include: - John Hixson on "Introduction to FreeNAS Development" - Ray Percival on "Interconnections with BSD" - Andrew Wong on "FreeBSD + ZFS + Postgres: the BSD Database Stack" - Scott Long on "FreeBSD and Netflix" - Jeff Rizzo on "Releasing NetBSD: So Many Targets, So Little Time" And the final wrap-up session will feature well-known technical author Michael W. Lucas on "BSD Breaking Barriers." Conference registration is available online for $50 in advance. Full-time students with valid identification can register for $15. There are a number of opportunities to register for $25 listed on the web site. The conference fee includes continental breakfast and a hot lunch, plus beverages throughout the day. Additionally, during lunch, a number of BSD-related projects will be conducting "Exposes" highlighting activities, soliciting testers and more.
