Match challenge extended by $40,012 and going until February 5th
Donate to help fund software freedom in 2026!
January 14, 2026
Thanks to two amazing anonymous donors, our match has been upped by $40,012 to raise the total to $251,939! We have already achieved our original match challenge of $211,927, already the largest challenge for SFC, and we are extending our matching period for the additional amount until February 5th, 2026. The next ≈$40,000 that we raise will be doubled. Whether you renew or start a sustainershipordonate in other ways to us, now is a great time to make sure your money goes even further for helping software freedom.
This means that any donations to you make to us before or ATFOSDEM will be doubled! Come visit our booth and ask questions, and feel free to donate cash (anonymously, even, if you'd like). We're so excited for all that 2026 holds for Software Freedom Conservancy. Initiatives like our robust and wide ranging copyleft compliance program, which works on the “software right to repair”, our annual North American conference FOSSY, hosting space for all kinds of projects and contributors to dream about the future of software freedom, or our invaluable internship programs, Outreachy and ICR, which have provided over 1,000 paid internships in free software and scientific research with FOSS. You can find out more about how your donations directly fund software freedom in our Year in Review.
This year we ran some Q&As on the Fediverse, answering questions about all the kinds of work we do and views we have on various software freedom related issues. Be sure to follow us there and you should also follow SFC staff @karen@floss.social and @bkuhn@copyleft.org. You can also find us with the hash tag #SFC.
