Show the QR code on your screen, put your phone in front of a mirror, take a photo with the selfie camera, adjust the focus because it will be blurry, take a photo again, adjust luminosity, take another photo, frame properly, maybe it's too small now, or too big, ok it's done, hey wait was that QR code actually coming from a legitimate Google URL or did it come from a random webpage you were browsing, not sure, go back, check which app is showing the QR code, check the URL, go back again, oh it

I don't remember where I saw it, but I saw a comparison between what we used to do to get a valeted car and the cell phone app process. Before, a ticket was pulled by the valet driver, torn into two. You had one half, the driver had the other. You then went up, handed your tag to the driver and got your car. Now, you download an app. You create an account, filling out a bunch of personal information even though you didn't want an account and didn't want to disclose your personal information. Most valets I've worked with are pretty good at remembering faces. Asking the person to describe their car is a good start; if the face and the car both look familiar, that's usually a step in the right direction. Showing the receipt from the restaurant is also helpful; if the valet ticket is roughly an hour older than the receipt, the person probably came in at the right time, and someone attempting to socially engineer a car theft would have had to walk to the restaurant and order dinner, leaving just a m
