Why do you think the world is so polarized these days? We have become a nation of busibodies, everyone wants to run everyone else's life. Cons want to own the libs, and libs want to own the cons every bit as much. The goal when you achieve power is to be a douchey as possible to people who don't think like you. I'm not religious, but something about reaping what you sow comes to mind. Our political discourse is monopolized by people who are simply not decent human beings, regardless of which "side" they are on.
