1. Impressionist Paintings Screen Saver: Even if you're hunkered over a spreadsheet, that's no reason not to integrate some aesthetic beauty into your life. This screen saver lets you feast your eyes on the masterpieces of artists who left an indelible mark on the world. It displays both famous and lesser-known paintings from the likes of Monet, Renoir, Gauguin, and C騷anne. It also includes paintings from Loiseau and Cabanel.

You can adjust the delay, the transitions, and whether the screen saver shows images in a specific or random order. The program also lets you play background music, stretch the images to fit the screen, and display a caption about each image.

2. Official 007 Screen Saver: Bring your favorite Bond characters to life with this free, well-designed screen saver. You'll see infamous villains in familiar settings: Eye-patched Largo glowers, Scaramanga warily points a gun, and Goldfinger looks smug wearing his round hat. Another image shows Q displaying the latest gadgets, with a blueprint of them in the background. Yet another slide shows various temptresses dressed in wetsuits, flowing gowns, camouflage, and nightwear.

The screen saver offers images from classics such as Thunderball, as well as more recent films like Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, and GoldenEye. And, of course, you'll see Pussy Galore too.

3. Living Waterfalls Screen Saver: Soothe your frazzled nerves with this animated screen saver of a waterfall. This free program shows water rushing over and bubbling at the bottom. Fish swim as parrots and flamingoes fly past, and ripples of water undulate with the flow of the stream. Included are nature sounds (not that realistic but still soothing) and music.

This free version includes one scene with many animations; a full version that includes two additional scenes costs $14.95.

4. Undersea Life Screen Saver: Explore the biological beauty of the sea without getting wet. This screen saver shows images of exotic and brilliant aquatic life. See fish, eels, lobsters, coral, crabs, starfish, and other amazing sea creatures. There are 39 images; the evaluation version shows all of the images that are available in the full, registered version.

This program comes with a free Screen Saver Control that resides in the Windows system tray. This control makes it easy for you to change the default screen saver, launch any screen saver installed on your computer, randomly launch a new screen saver when Windows restarts, and temporarily disable your screen saver.

5. Classic Aircraft Screen Saver: Even if you're a big fan of the Pentium 4, you might still harbor nostalgic feelings for obsolete technology. This screen saver shows vintage planes from the 1940s, and you don't have to be an aviation aficionado to enjoy it. It features moving images of 16 old-style aircraft that will all fire up your imagination. You'll see a Beech Staggarwing, a DeHaviland Beaver, a Lake, a Cessna, and others.

A black background allows the colors of the planes to stand out. The images are in True Color and are suitable for any monitor resolution.
