Actually, I don't regret any of the time I spent on license enforcement actions: quite the contrary! That's the one set of work I did during the period in question that had real value.

I also spent much of that period doing random development and sysadmin tasks: that was clearly a waste of time, a mistake, and a distraction for valuable work for Free Software.

I'm quite sure I mentioned the former, not the latter, in my SCALE talk.

Er, s/latter/former/ there. I *didn't* mention license enforcement as time misspent in my talk.

No problem; I'd be happy to add a note clarifying that in the text. For what it's worth, I didn't get the impression from the talk that you regarded your time as mis-spent, per se, so much as overloaded.

Yeah, I've always been overloaded, but I really did misspend some of my time during that period on things that weren't urgently needed for Free Software. I think copyleft enforcement, though, is something that remains urgently needed for the future of Free Software, and that it always has been so since I've been involved in the mid-1990s.

I spent time during the period in question just doing sysadmin work and writing useless IRC bots for my employer; that was a mistake and waste of time.
