BMJ is a peer-reviewed medical journal. It is one of the world's oldest general medical journals and has been described as among the most prestigious. It was originally called the British Medical Journal. BMJ is offering 25 accounts to active medical editors.

What to expect with TWL account processing
Make sure to read this before sending emails to account coordinators inquiring about your account status.

Step 1: Application screening

We will begin screening applicants within a few weeks of opening applications, usually as the number of applications approaches or exceeds the number of accounts available. At that time the account coordinator will place an {{Approved}} ( Approved), {{Unapproved}} (Symbol declined.svg Not approved)or {{ToBeDone}} ( Pending or waitlisted) status to your account. If you signed up after the initial call for applicants, process may not happen immediately if accounts are not available.

Step 2: Email and Google Form

After you have received approval for an account, you will be contacted via a Wikipedia email from the account coordinator; be sure to check your spam folder. The email will contain instructions for filling out a Google form with the required information for access.

Step 3: Waiting for partners to activate accounts

There are several steps of subsequent processing, including waiting for a batch of users to submit information, emailing partners, and waiting for partners to activate accounts. Expect this process to take as long as two weeks; we try to make it take less time, but there are a lot of variables at play.

Step 4: Using access

Once the account is activated either the volunteer coordinator or the partner will send you an email with access information. Follow the given instructions, and make sure to actively use your access to improve Wikipedia content!

We recognize this process can be frustrating and take a while: we think so too. We are in the process of developing a digital tool to make this process more user friendly and make it easier for us to give you access to partners.

A1candidate - The majority of my edits are from a wide variety of medical topics, and the most recent articles I've created are medical textbooks and journals as well as specialized topics such as immunoediting and general medical articles like the List of medical textbooks, which is still under construction but contains numerous citations to BMJ papers (only the freely accessible ones only). I also created the article on purinergic signalling and I believe the BMJ would greatly increase its coverage of this newly-discovered field of medicine in the near future, as many potential therapeutic treatments have already been proposed and are currently undergoing clinical trials.   10. Paulscrawl (talk · contribs) - 10 year editor, reviewer. Citation nut. Wikipedia coverage of evidence-based medicine (EBM) looks, in many instances I've reviewed, to be largely contributed by those with skin in this contentious game - at the least, most cites in many such articles are to primary sources, with little in the way of secondary sources to establish notability or offer critique. Peer review publication too often means press release and little more. This bloats article length and citation counts to no good effect. I'm looking to restore these articles to reasonable scale and NPOV (starting with historical overviews of the subfields and citations of secondary sources) and overall readability and usability by the general public. BJM and their specialized journals in this field are simply unsurpassed resources in EBM and will be put to good use making Wikipedia's coverage truly encyclopedic. Thanks! Aspro (talk · contribs) When I started in editing in 2006 I had a paid BMJ account for a few years to help find good references for medical articles but being retired I can't afford the annual fee. I came to WP originally, to contribute to mental health articles and the history of psychiatric institutions, so access to the BMJ archive would be invaluable. I spend a lot of time answering general non pacific queries on the Ref Desk.

As our organisation is involved in research, I have edited numerous medicine-related articles, primarily in the area of neuromuscular disorders, both on en-wiki and (much less) pl-wiki. Unfortunately, we do not have any institutional subscription, and access of BMJ would help me to further update Wikipedia with medicine's new discoveries – properly sourced.
