About this capture

COLLECTED BY

Organization: Internet Archive

The Internet Archive discovers and captures web pages through many different web crawls. At any given time several distinct crawls are running, some for months, and some every day or longer. View the web archive through the Wayback Machine.

Collection: Live Web Proxy Crawls

Content crawled via the Wayback Machine Live Proxy mostly by the Save Page Now feature on web.archive.org.

Liveweb proxy is a component of Internet Archive’s wayback machine project. The liveweb proxy captures the content of a web page in real time, archives it into a ARC or WARC file and returns the ARC/WARC record back to the wayback machine to process. The recorded ARC/WARC file becomes part of the wayback machine in due course of time.

What to expect with TWL account processing
Make sure to read this before sending emails to account coordinators inquiring about your account status.

Step 1: Application screening

We will begin screening applicants within a few weeks of opening applications, usually as the number of applications approaches or exceeds the number of accounts available. At that time the account coordinator will place an {{Approved}} ( Approved), {{Unapproved}} (Symbol declined.svg Not approved)or {{ToBeDone}} ( Pending or waitlisted) status to your account. If you signed up after the initial call for applicants, process may not happen immediately if accounts are not available.

Step 2: Email and Google Form

After you have received approval for an account, you will be contacted via a Wikipedia email from the account coordinator; be sure to check your spam folder. The email will contain instructions for filling out a Google form with the required information for access.

Step 3: Waiting for partners to activate accounts

There are several steps of subsequent processing, including waiting for a batch of users to submit information, emailing partners, and waiting for partners to activate accounts. Expect this process to take as long as two weeks; we try to make it take less time, but there are a lot of variables at play.

Step 4: Using access

Once the account is activated either the volunteer coordinator or the partner will send you an email with access information. Follow the given instructions, and make sure to actively use your access to improve Wikipedia content!

Changes coming soon

We recognize this process can be frustrating and take a while: we think so too. We are in the process of developing a digital tool to make this process more user friendly and make it easier for us to give you access to partners.

David Hedlund. In 2013 I were listed on position #67 of the top 300 medical editors across any language of Wikipedia with 445 number of edits. I'm an active editor in the area of psychopharmacology and medical free software and need access to evidence-based medicine journals that is distributed under a free license to help Wikipedia with reliable sources like BMJ. --David Hedlund (talk) 06:26, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

  5. Khabboos - I'm a medical doctor at a Government Hospital with an interest in complementary and alternative medicine and could use citations from the BMJ as references, not just on wikipedia, but elsewhere also (and promise to mention the source).—Khabboos (talk) 15:34, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
  6. A1candidate - The majority of my edits are from a wide variety of medical topics, and the most recent articles I've created are medical textbooks and journals as well as specialized topics such as immunoediting and general medical articles like the List of medical textbooks, which is still under construction but contains numerous citations to BMJ papers (only the freely accessible ones only). I also created the article on purinergic signalling and I believe the BMJ would greatly increase its coverage of this newly-discovered field of medicine in the near future, as many potential therapeutic treatments have already been proposed and are currently undergoing clinical trials. A1candidate (talk) 19:16, 28 July 2014 (UTC)My institution has access to it now so I'm striking off my application -A1candidate (talk) 16:16, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
  7. Viswaprabha - I am an editor at various Wikipedias including en but predominantly on Indic Wikis(especially ml.wikipedia.org). Access to this library will be much useful to me as I am in constant search for authentic references and citations pertaining to medical and bio-medical technology articles and other biological sciences apart from other topics. By profession, I am an experienced bio-medical engineer specialized in surgery, radiation physics, laboratory sciences, sterilisation and infection control, audiology, speech therapy, electrophysiology, forensic medicine etc. Thank you. 8. The Jolly Bard - Editor on nl:Wikipedia with an interest in various medical topics (among other things), close to 1,000 edits. BMJ has a lot of articles on neuroimmune diseases which I currently can't access. Regards, The Jolly Bard (talk) 15:23, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
  9. DoctorJoeE (talk · contribs) I've been an active editor for almost eight years, and have created or substantially rewritten a large number of articles on a variety of subjects. Currently working principally on science and medicine, and expanding into medical/scientific biography; I don't have BMJ access, and it would be extremely useful. DoctorJoeE review transgressions/talk to me! 13:08, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
  10. Paulscrawl (talk · contribs) - 10 year editor, reviewer. Citation nut. Wikipedia coverage of evidence-based medicine (EBM) looks, in many instances I've reviewed, to be largely contributed by those with skin in this contentious game - at the least, most cites in many such articles are to primary sources, with little in the way of secondary sources to establish notability or offer critique. Peer review publication too often means press release and little more. This bloats article length and citation counts to no good effect. I'm looking to restore these articles to reasonable scale and NPOV (starting with historical overviews of the subfields and citations of secondary sources) and overall readability and usability by the general public. BJM and their specialized journals in this field are simply unsurpassed resources in EBM and will be put to good use making Wikipedia's coverage truly encyclopedic. Thanks! Paulscrawl (talk) 22:53, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
  11. Mdscottis (talk · contribs) I have a 'cure award'. General medical and sports medicine topics as they arise in interaction with family medicine residents and athletic trainers and students. Some contribution, some citation verification, improvement and re-writing. Some general flow, syntax, punctuation. Med School library does not have BMJ access and I note that it's subscriptions are being reduced. Thanks. Mdscottis (talk) 02:26, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
  12. Edison (talk · contribs) 49,000 edits since 2005, and 31 articles created. Im interested in the history of medical and surgical practice, and will use this i=as a source in improving the referencing of articles in these areas. Edison (talk) 00:57, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
  13. OppidumNissenae (talk · contribs)In 2013 I was one of the top 300 medical editors across any language of Wikipedia. This is my: edit count; my interests are medical topics, I often quote BMJ articles, but BMJ has a lot of articles which I currently can't access. Thanks! 14. drajay1976 (talk · contribs)I am an active wikipedian. In 2013, I was among the top 300 medical editors across any language of Wikipedia.--Drajay1976 (talk) 07:01, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

Access to full content would be highly facilitating research & referencing. I have been writing contributions on Wikipedia in German, Wikipedia in English, Wikipedia in French and on Wikipedia in Spanish since 2007 (My Statistics for reference).
  16. Anthonyhcole (talk · contribs) I patrol recent changes to medical articles using Special:RecentChangesLinked/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Medicine/Lists_of_pages/Articles and write medical articles. I was in the 2013 top 20 editors of en.Wikipedia medical content. I'm on the board of Wiki Project Med Foundation.
  17. Aspro (talk · contribs) When I started in editing in 2006 I had a paid BMJ account for a few years to help find good references for medical articles but being retired I can't afford the annual fee. I came to WP originally, to contribute to mental health articles and the history of psychiatric institutions, so access to the BMJ archive would be invaluable. I spend a lot of time answering general non pacific queries on the Ref Desk.
  18. Kashmiri (talk · contribs · count · email) I manage a patient organisation in one of orphan diseases and share a lot of research knowledge here on Wikipedia for the benefit of other patients. As our organisation is involved in research, I have edited numerous medicine-related articles, primarily in the area of neuromuscular disorders, both on en-wiki and (much less) pl-wiki. Unfortunately, we do not have any institutional subscription, and access of BMJ would help me to further update Wikipedia with medicine's new discoveries – properly sourced.
