We're getting close to a v3 alpha.2 release. Bump the package.json version in preparation.

I think as we experienced last time, I'll need to manually adjust the meta-data to mark the release as a pre-release after the CI runs

Cool. I'm excited. I think we should probably wait until the other commits we want to get in are merged (mainly #7435 as you noted) and do this right before the release

I'd like to get #7618 merged, but after that I'm ready for the release whenever you guys are
