- Just posting a possible solution. The built in preview uses markdown it. Markdown it is extensible through plugins. Check out how [the footnotes plugin](https://github.com/mjbvz/vscode-markdown-footnotes) works. There are a [bunch of plugins](https://www.npmjs.com/search?q=keywords%3Amarkdown-it-plugin%20wiki&ranking=popularity) which support wiki links in markdown it.
