collections.UserList does not get the same love as list

For regular lists:

In [11]: list(range(50))
Out[11]: 
[0,
 1,
 2,
 3,
 4,
...

 49]

However:

In [13]: collections.UserList(range(50))
Out[13]: [0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49]

The notebook has its own internal idle-culling mechanisms, including shutting down idle kernels, shutting down itself when there's been no activity, and making decisions based on whether there are open connections or not. This is a lot more sophisticated, and offers much more granularity than the network-activity-based activity we have now.

Elevator Pitch

Code defined in a %%time cell doesn't appear to be recognised so you then get spurious warnings about e.g. undefined variables.
