From Closed to Open: The Open webOS Story
Roy Sutton
Audience:
Everyone
Topic:
General
In December, 2011 HP announced that it would be releasing webOS to the open source community. In January, an aggressive roadmap was revealed that would have Open webOS released by September 2012. Despite the aggressive schedule, all the deliverables in the roadmap were released on time. Though the schedule was met many lessons learned along the way.
Roy Sutton will talk about the experience of following the roadmap to release. He will cover how releasing a project to the open source community is only just the beginning of the process, not the end. Working on an open source project is very different from working on a closed source project and it can be a challenge to understand and work with a new community of developers.
