Introducing Continuous Integration with Jenkins
Kohsuke Kawaguchi
Audience:
Beginner
Topic:
SysAdmin
This talk walks users through the basic concepts of continuous integration, a practice becoming popular to help developers become more productive, regardless of the programming languages.
The basic idea behind continuous integration is the automation of build, test, and other activities around the software development and operations, thereby detecting regressions early, getting rid of mandane tasks, and allowing people to focus on the creative work.
The way we do this in this talk is by using an OSS CI tool called Jenkins, which is the currently most adopted CI server on the market. The ease of use of this tool, as well as the extensibility though 600+ plugins make it a good choice for people to do CI.
We'll do an introduction of the tool and the project behind it, and how do you go from zero to a functioning CI environment.
This talk will be introductory, and targets toward those who have never tried Jenkins or CI, to give you a good overview.
