Open Source Community Relations
Roy Sutton, Tom king
Audience:
Everyone
Topic:
Mentoring
Open webOS is an open source operating system based upon HP's webOS. In September, HP released Open webOS 1.0 to the world. That same day, the WebOS Ports team, an external team led by Tom King, previewed a port of Open webOS to the Google Galaxy Nexus.
Tom will discuss the care and feeding of open source developers as well as the challenges of working with a corporate open source contributor.
Roy will discuss the challenges of working inside of a large company moving a project to open source and how he tries to balance the needs of the open source community with the goals and priorities of internal developers.
Both will discuss how to make an open source project successful and the lessons learned along the way
