Honestly, you can't trust US tech. All the major tech CEOs famously met with Trump in private to discuss God's knows what.
We believe we have seen the establishment of an oligarchy that commits war-like acts against its closest allies. That means that none of your data is safe in the cloud if it lands in an American jurisdiction. Because clearly Trump can call any of these CEOs for a favor now. US tech companies can and will let government spooks into data centers and gain physical access to equipment. Or si

The same “oligarchs” are a minority of the rich technocrats - most still swing Democrat. In addition, they, like all of your friendly preferred “progressive” oligarchs, are also losing money in this long planned and long due correction.
And many of the same “oligarchs” that you now despise used to be Democrats before they realized deficit spending and “free trade” was lining their pocketbooks but not the nation as a whole. Bessent used to be a right hand man of

I don't really care what letter a politician has after their name. Most(all?) major industries donate to both parties. But try to focus on the immediate problem and the current party that has seized overwhelming power. Now is not the time to hash over old grievances because that won't be productive.
The working class and middle class have long suspected that the richest people are taking advantage of the rest of us. But it's one thing to say you don't trust the 1%, billionaires, and tech CEOs, and it's another thing to elect one to office, and watch him appoint several to his staff. Then what do you do? Keep carrying water for the guy?
EU tariffs are what, around 6%? And they didn't flip them on like a light switch and watch the markets scrambled to adapt. The US's new tariffs scheme and what the rest of the world does isn't comparable. the US already had tariffs, and used them to promote certain key industries. The markets were pretty used to that. It's the shock and awe method that is problematic, and exposes a deep lack of understanding of macroeconomics. And possibly a deep psychological insecurity in America's leadership.
Looking at chaos, a metaphorical burning wreak, and then declaring that it's a good thing is delusional thinking.
The end result, regardless if Trump intended it to occur, will be a widespread recession and inflation. From here, the wealthiest people have already moved assets from the stock market and into external investments. When people start defaulting on mortgages for homes and small businesses. Those discounted assets, primarily real estate, are going to be scooped up for a song. We'll see a shift of working class and middle class from being property owners to being renters. And when everyone is renting, you'll never get out from under the rich's thumb. If owning a house was once party of the American Dream. That's going to be an unrealistic dream for the majority of people very soon.
