Was Egerton an official Conservative Party candidate, as it doesn't explictly say he was (that I noticed), and referring to him as being an ex-Conservative MP could go either way. --Sfnhltb (talk) 16:54, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Good question.. He seems to have been the official candidate of both the Conservatives and Liberal Unionists. Reading the report in the Daily News of 1 October 1890 the Liberal Unionists approached Egerton to be their candidate to which he agreed, and he was then also formally adopted by the local Conservative association. The secretary of the local Conservative Association agreed to act as the agent for the Liberal Unionists.Lozleader (talk) 18:34, 9 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
