I do not have a reference on hand, but a carboy was about 19.something liters and a demijohn was about 54 liters. Sorry if I can not be of more help, most dictionaries are very general and I am talking about a specific point. 'A 15 gallon carboy is often called a demijohn' - weasel wording. It's not in the UK, as subsequently mentioned. Can someone find a reference and more specific detail?--62.58.152.52 (talk) 15:09, 9 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
