Welcome!

edit

Hello, Sbpollock, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

  • You can find answers to many student questions on our Q&A site, ask.wikiedu.org

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:57, 16 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Article issues

edit

Your additions to the The Trust for Public Land article include passages copied verbatim or nearly verbatim from their website. This was detected by automatic plagiarism detection software. For copyright reasons, your entire contribution was deleted. Please review the Plagiarism and Copyright training module before proceeding further.

Also keep in mind that Wikipedia articles are supposed to be written using sources written by independent third parties. You shouldn't use the Trust's own website as a source - it isn't an independent source. You also cannot use phrases like『We’ve helped pass more than 527 ballot measures』- the "we" in that sentence appears to be Wikipedia, which is deeply misleading. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:55, 16 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

One other item Sbpollock, if indeed you were the one making the changes on The Trust for Public Land's Wiki article -- all the edits were done via an IP address, and not you (unless you did them without being logged on). Mentioning this in part as I also teach and use Wikipedia with my students and need to make sure they know this in case this is a requirement of your course.   Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Flint water crisis, as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 23:43, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
