Wanted some feedback before making a change to the article - Currently, the article contains a section titled "Economists who predicted the crisis". I propose the section be renamed: "Notable warnings made prior to the Crisis" or something along those lines.
My justification for this is that the term "predicted" may be too strong and "Economist" fails to encompass the set of individuals outside the academic profession who were early in their warnings of the 08 crisis. Few people actually predicted the exact timing of the collapse and of those that did, even fewer could estimate the extent of the crisis and explain the variety of factors that caused it. This change would allow the section to contain all information relating to financial journalists, industry economists, academics, traders etc. who gave early and explicit warnings of the crisis (including their justification) rather than just picking out the few Economists who wrote of the dangers underpinning the subprime mortgage market prior to the collapse. Need S&P 500 chart covering that period, and some of the period before and after. See:
This is a standard graph, and so it is in the public domain. See image license:

GFC historically significant.
Absence of a dedicated page is .. curious.

non-abbreviated years are generally preferred. No reason provided to change this, nor do I see one. PhotogenicScientist (talk) 14:10, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
