Albelhamid Ben Badis was born on December 4, 1889 at 16:00. Ben Badis founded in 1931 the Association of the oulémas Moslem Algerian. It is in monthly magazine Al-Chihab that it published, of 1925 until A its death, its ideas reformists which related to as well the religious field as political. It is deceased on April 16, 1940 in Constantine.

In 1931 Ben Badis founded the Association of Muslim Algerian [[Ulema]]. This was a national grouping of many Islamic scholars in Algeria from many different and sometimes opposing perspectives and viewpoints. The association published a monthly magazine, the Al-Chihab and and Ben Badis contributed regulalrly to it between [[1925]] and his death in [[1940]]. The magazine informed its readers of the associations ideas and thoughts on religious reform and spoke on other religious and political issues. Ben Badis passed away on April 16, 1940 in Constantine.

It was known also to have always defended the rights of the Moslem inhabitants of Constantine.

A the Zitouna mosque In 1908, Ben Badis, decided to begin its first voyage for science towards Tunis and within the Zitouna mosque, which was in this time there, a great center of science and scientists.

At the Zitouna mosque Ben Badis horizons increased. He learned much from things, as he met many scientists which had the influence on his personality and his orientation, quoting in this fact Sheik Mohamed AlNakhli which enraciné in him the ideology of the reform, like it showed him the good method to include/understand Coran. Like Sheik Mohamed Altaher Ben Achour which influenced it to like the Arab language and tasted its splendour, moreover the honor is allocated to the Sheik Albachir Safer owing to the fact that Ben Badis is interested in the history and the contemporary problems of the Moslems, like finding a solution to push back Western colonialism and his after-effects.

After his return in Algeria, it also early starts to teach with the mosque Djamaa Al Kabir in Constantine, but those which were opposed to the movement Moslem reformist, are to animate to prohibit it, which pushed it to leave another time, but this time towards the Middle-East.

A Médine After having achieved the pilgrimage in Mecque and Médine, Ben Badis remained three months, to give lessons to the masjid annabaoui.

It will meet also thereafter his friend and one of the partisans of the movement Moslem reformist Sheik Bachir Al Ibrahimi. This meeting will be thereafter the starting point for the reform in Algeria, since both are to meet and discuss lengthily, to develop a plan clear for the reform. It was a Sheik Hussein Hindi Ahmed Al residing him also at Médine, which proposed to him to turn over to Algeria which needed him.

After its departure Ben Badis visits Syria,Egypt of which mosque Al-Azhar where it meets the literature and men of science.

Its return in Algeria  

In 1913 Ben Badis turns over to Algeria and settles in Constantine, where it begins his work of teaching. He starts by giving courses to the mosque, small, then with large. Thereafter it starts with developed the idea to foundthe Association of the oulémas Moslem Algerian.

In 1936, Ben Badis takes part in the foundation of the "Algerian Moslem Congress" (CMA). This last is dislocated in summer 1937.

The same year Ben Badis returns to the head ofthe Association of the oulémas Moslem Algerian.

It would have to be stressed that one of the major concerns during this period of life of Abdelhamid Ben Badis, was the fight against the repression which fell down on the Algerian patriots and the denunciation of fascistic propaganda as well as the intrigues anti-semitisms. All that it made it as a practitioner his work daily in time that journalist.

April 16, 1940 Ben Badis dies prematurely in his birthplace Constantine. It was buried in the presence of 20 000 people and its funerals took the aspect of a gigantic humanistic demonstration, anticolonialist and democratic of which in fact the same principles carried out the life of this large Algerian hero.
