Azerspace-2isAzerbaijan's second telecommunications satellite, built by American Space Systems Loral (SSL) company. The Azerspace-2 satellite was originally scheduled to be launched into orbit in 2017, from the Kourou Space CenterinFrench Guiana (South America)[3]

Satellite

The satellite has an anticipated service life of 15 years.[4]

Azerspace-2 will provide digital broadcasting, data transmission and other services. The satellite supports the direct-to-home (DTH) satellite broadcasting platform, contributing to the emergence of DTH operators in Azerbaijan.[5][6]

The satellite will be placed into geostationary orbit 45 degrees east longitude and serve the countries of Europe, Central and South Asia, Middle East and Tropical Africa.[7]

Release and management

Telecommunication satellite Azerspace-2 will be launched into orbit in the mid of 2018 from the Kourou space center using the Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle. the satellite will offer high-tech facilities, affordable coverage and quality service, meeting the growing demand for network services in the region. Also, it will be the first telecommunications satellite in the orbit of the Azerspace-1[8][9] The Azercosmos's satellite is located in a geostationary orbit of 45 degrees East longitude. According to Azercosmos Chairman of the Rashad Nabiyev, 46% of the satellite's unladen capacity has been sold.[10] [11]
