He was the canonofZagreb and rector of the Collegium Croaticum ViennenseinVienna. Krčelić wrote in Latin and in the Kajkavian dialect, and his major works were dedicated to Church history of Zagreb. His yearbook Annuae 1748–1767 is a precious source for the history of the period.
After Vitezović, he was the most prominent figure in the Croatian cultural life of the time.
