Background information
Years active2003- Present

Belinda (born Belinda Peregrin Schüll August 15, 1989) is a Mexican pop/rock singer and actress who was born in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico.

Biography

This is one of many cases where young artists begin their career in acting and then move on to singing. The daughter of Ignacio Peregrin and Belinda Schull, Belinda made her first appearance in television as the main character, Ana Capistrán, in the children's telenovela Amigos x siempre ("Friends 4 Ever"), where she debuted as an actress after winning the role in a national casting, beating 5000 other girls. Belinda continued participating in other soap operas like Aventuras en el tiempo ("Adventures in Time") alongside Christopher Uckermann and Cómplices al rescate ("Accomplices to the Rescue"), which she could not complete, and later causing her replacement by actress Daniela Luján. She also contributed to the soundtracks of those telenovelas.

Her international self-titled album Belinda became as big a success in many different countries, as it was in her native Mexico. It included singles such as Lo Siento ("I'm Sorry"), Boba Niña Nice ("Foolish Nice Girl"), Ángel ("Angel"), and Vivir ("To Live"), which was also chosen as the main theme song for Corazones al límite ("Hearts to the Limit"), another soap opera she appeared in. Belinda also collaborated with the Mexican rock band Moderatto, in their single Muriendo Lento ("Dying Slowly"). She was named after her mother, and her younger brother Ignacio, was named after her father. Her eyes are naturally blue, but, according to her and her fans, sometimes look green or grey, depending on what she is wearing. She is currently recording her next album, which will be released in October 2006.

Currently Belinda is setting to appear in the sequel to the Disney Channel hit called The Cheetah Girls 2. Recording of The Cheetah Girls 2 started in March 2006 and will continue for eight weeks.
