The Indo-Chinese Forest Lizard (Calotes jerdoni) is an agamid lizard found in China and South Asia.

Description/Identification

Physical Structure: Body side flat; limbs and tail long; throat with hanging meat; lash back with a mane-like scales ridge.

Color Pattern: Body color normally green or greenish, but in many cases can make the body into a dark brown within a few seconds.

Length: Maximum: 44 cm, Common: 32 cm. (Snout to vent 9 cm.).

Maximum published weight: ? g.

Distribution

Bangladesh, Bhutan, China (W Yunnan, Xizang = Tibet), India (Khasi Hills in Assam & Shillong) and Myanmar.

Habitat

Terrestrial & arboreal; diurnal (?); found in many types of forested land.

Feeds mainly on insects and some small invertebrates.

Reproduction

Oviparous; -----.

Uses

No known practical uses. Play rolls in echo-system by eating various types of insects and otherwise.

Non-venomous and completely harmless to humans.
