Template:Infobox Indian jurisdiction Chandpur is a city and a municipal boardinBijnor district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Chandpur is one of the cities under the district Bijnor in UP. The city is 140 kilometres from national capital Delhi, and 110 kilometres from Meerut. Chandpur is well connected and is 38 kilometres by road from Gajraula on National highway-24,(Delhi-Luchnow Highway).

The City is under district Bijnor and is surrounded by the districts Meerut, Muzzafarnagar, Moradabad, Haridwar, Kotdwar and J.P.Nagar.

Vaiysa, Agarwal, Tyagi, Sikhs and Jats dominate in wealth and social status. The Muslim community is also prosperious.

Agriculture is the main source of income in Chandpur, sugarcane being the main crop. Chandpur is famous for Sugar and Gur with its well known mandi as Mandi Kotla.

The main markets of chandpur are Mandi Kotla, Dhaali Bazer, Bazaria, Mina Bazar, the Saturday Market and Thursday market at Patiyapara.

On the education front, Chandpur has many primary schools and colleges as one government degree college named Gulab Singh Degree College.

There are a few major Inter Colleges as below.

Hindu Inter College (H.I.C., Chandpur. Miftahul-uloom Muslim Inter College (M.M.I.C.) Ved Mandir Inter college. Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College (S.V.M.I.C)

There are some major Girls Inter Colleges as below.

Vaidik Kanya Inter College, Ideal Girls public school, Rahmania Girls Inter College, Shakuntla Girls Inter College.

Two C.B.S.C. affiliatated schools, Fatherson Public School and J.P. Public School, and SSM Public School are also providing education in the chandpur

Young generation is being progressive in city, they are looking for alternative professions while acquiring higher education as MBA, CA, Engineering and Medical from premiere institutes as IIT, CMD, Modinagar and Moradabad.

Chandpur is well connected with Railways from Delhi, Luchnow, and Dehradun.

Direct bus services are available from Delhi to Chandpur, buses can be easily taken from Anand Vihar Bus Stand, Delhi, and for train route, there are two trains available from Delhi, namely Mussoorie Express and Garwal Express.

On the political side, Chandpur is well known as "Mini Chahproli" because of highly active role in UP politics. The City has been represented by many ministers in UP assembly in recent past. Politics of chandpur had been always very volatile and azad candidates generally win the local assembly elections.

Chandpur has a biggest mosque known as "Jama Masjid of Chandpur"in Bijnor district as well as both of the mosque's minarets are around 150 feet height.


Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Chandpur had a population of 68,359. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Chandpur has an average literacy rate of 52%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 57% and female literacy of 47%. 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.
