Chen Yi-tung (Mandarin: 陳奕通; born 27 June 2003) is a foil fencer from Taiwan. He qualified for the 2024 Summer OlympicsinParis as the first male Taiwanese Olympic fencer in 36 years.[1][2]

Career

In 2018, he won a silver medal in the mixed team event at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics and placed 6th in boys' foil.[3][4] At the 2018 Asian Games Chen placed 6th in the Men's team foilinJakarta, Indonesia.[5]

In 2022, Chen placed 8th in the Men's individual foil at the 2022 Asian GamesinHangzhou, China.[6] At the 2022 Asian Fencing Championships Chen placed 4rd in team foil, representing Chinese Taipei, or Taiwan, after defeating China 45-40 at Seoul, South Korea.[2]

In 2024, Chen qualified for the 2024 Summer OlympicsinParis after defeating Samuel Elijah of Singapore 15-4 in Fujairah, UAE.[7] He was congratulated by many Taiwanese embassies in various countries including, India, Canada, The United States, and France.[8][9][10][11]
