Grade horses are horses whose parentage is unknown or that are not purebred. Experience horsepeople can usually spot a breed type in any grade horse. Popular cross-breeds are Quar-ab (Quarter horse and Arabian), Anglo-Arab (Thoroughbred and Arabian), and Paint/Arabian crosses. Sometimes horses are cross-bred to provide a better horse (such as a Paint/Arabian cross may have the spirited and graceful characteristics of the Arabian, and the colorful coat patterns of the Paint), and sometimes grade horses come of just putting a stallion and a mare together.
