Jeppestown is a suburbofJohannesburg, South Africa. It is located in Region 8.

On Sunday 25 June 2006 Jeppestown became the location of an event that captured the attention of the world relating to South Africa's current problems with crime.

Known as the Jeppestown Tragedy, a bloodbath followed when members of the South African Police Services traced a gang of 15 Armed Robbers to a house in Jeppestown.

Members of the West Rand Flying Squad, West Rand Dog Unit and Johannesburg Dog Unit entered the house unknowing that the gang had laid an ambush for them. A shootout followed leaving four police members, Inspector Frederick "Frikkie" van Heerden (32), Inspector Nzama Victor Mathye (49), Sergeant Gert Schoeman (30) and Constable Peter Francois Seaward (31) dead.

8 of the Robbers where also shot and killed by these members.

The South African Police's Special Task Force were called in and after a 5 hour stand off the remaining gang members surrendered.
