"Jingia" is a genus of mamenchisaurid sauropod from the Late Jurassic Dongxing FormationofGuangxi, China. The type species is Jingia dongxingensis.[1] The name "Jingia" is preoccupied by a moth named in 1983 and has yet to receive a new genus name.[2]

Discovery and naming

The holotype of Jingia consists of partly preserved dorsal, sacral, and caudal vertebrae, left and right ulna, and a right femur.[1]

It was named as a new genus and species of mamenchisaurid in 2024. The generic name, "Jingia", honors Chinese people of the Jing Nationality who emigrated from Vietnam. The specific name, "dongxingensis", references Dongxing City where many Jing people live.[1]

Classification

In their phylogenetic analyses, Ren et al. (2024) recovered Jingia as a late-diverging member of Mamenchisauridae, as the sister taxon to the clade containing Mamenchisaurus youngi, Chuanjiesaurus , and Wamweracaudia. Their results are shown in the cladogram below:[1]

Mamenchisauridae
