John Malcom Ordway (born in California) is a retired foreign service officer who is currently the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Astana, Kazakhstan since January 13, 2011.
He previously served as the Chargé d'Affaires at four United States embassies: Kathmandu, Nepal(December 2009 - January 2010), Sofia, Bulgaria(August 2009 - November 2009), Vienna, Austria(May 2009 - July 2009), and Prague, Czech Republic(May 2010 - August 2010).
He served as the United States Ambassador to Kazakhstan from September 2004 - 2008 and as the United States Ambassador to Armenia from November 2001 to August 2004.[1]
Ordway graduated from Stanford University in 1972 and the University of California's Hastings College of Law in 1975. He speaks Russian, French, Italian, Czech and Armenian.[1]
