The Festival de Lima, also known as "Encuentro Latinoamericano de Cine de Lima," is a film festival held annually by the Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). Its original name was Festival Elcine. Since the release of 2007 official name is Festival of Lima, Encuentro Latinoamericano de Cine.
The festival
The first edition was held in 1997 in the PUCP Cultural CenterinSan Isidro DistrictLima, which continues to be home Main festival. The original name was Elcine ", Festival and was conceived as a "Latin American Meeting of Cinema." Over the years, the growth of the festival, the traditional seat of the Centro Cultural de la PUCP joined the Boards of the string Cineplanet, and various concert halls and cultural centers in Lima.
The festival presents the first half of August each year. It is the main film event in Peru and one of the most important events in the cultural calendar Lima. The festival also offers an intense cultural activity that includes master classes, lectures, book presentations, art exhibitions, etc.
Competition and awards
The official competition includes the following sections: Fiction and Documentary. The contest is for all the Latin American context.
The award from the festival is calledTrophy Spondylus ", which consists of a stylized statue Spondylus, marine mollusk widely used in the pre-Columbian art of Peru. This prize is awarded in various categories of the festival.
