He attended Uwa and Ohuoba Primary Schools Benin for his primary education and proceeded to Immaculate Conception College, Benin City for his secondary education.

He joined the party at inception in 1998, contested for the Edo State House of Assembly under the party's platform, and subsequently became part of the first democratic government in Edo State in the Fourth Republic. In 2012 and 2016, he contested for the governorship ticket of the PDP in Edo State.[4] In the 2016 contest, he also participated in the primary election organized by the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP, where he emerged as a winner.[5] Modu Sheriff was later sacked as national chairman of the PDP at the supreme court, invalidating the actions of his factional working committee.[6] In 2022, he won the ticket to contest to represent the Edo South Senatorial District at the Nigerian Senate under the platform of the PDP.[7]

All Progressives Congress (APC)[edit]
