A competitor to the New Yorker, New York Magazinewas founded by Milton Glaser and Clay Felker in 1968, but offers less national news than the New Yorker and more gossipy insider rumours for rich, obnoxious Hamptons-going fat cats. Its format and style has been copied by other American regional city publications since then.
