Okram Ibobi Singh (born July 19, 1948) is the Chief Minister of the state of Manipur, India. He has held that position since March 7 2002. He is a member of the Indian National Congress[1].
He was born to Okram Angubi and Lukamani Devi in 1948 on July 19. He was born in Thoubal Athokpam[2].
OnSeptember 2, 2008, rebels in the state of Manipur attacked Okram Singh's house with rocket launchers while he and his family were sleeping. One security guard was injured in the attack, but Singh and his family were unharmed. The attackers have yet to be apprehended. [3] A member of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak claimed responsibility for the attack via phone, and indicated it was meant as a warning to Singh to stop policies meant to thwart the insurgency in Manipur.
