OxjamOxjam is a music festival made up of hundreds of events around the UK in October. Oxjam events are organised by people who know and love their local music scene. All in aid of Oxfam.
Oxjam is Oxfam's month-long music festival with a difference. Each year hundreds of music-lovers volunteer, all across the UK, to raise money by organising their own music events, which take place throughout the month of October.
All the proceeds from these music events go to Oxfam to help fight poverty and improve the lives of the world's poorest people.
Oxjam has a simple formula: Make Music, Raise Money, End Poverty.
In 2009 the Oxjam Music festival took place in both May and October. From the 28th September to the 1st October, a series of celeb-packed gigs launched Oxjam '09 in style. They took place in the unlikely venue of a converted Oxfam shop in Tooting, London, a venue kept top secret until just one day before the gigs began.
The first ever Oxjam city Takeover events happened in October 2009. Each takeover event is operated on a wristband system which allows access to see up to 100 different bands in up to 10 venues in that city.
Oxjam Takeover events happened throughout the month, and across the country:
