The Pingat Kehormatan (Medal of Honour) was instituted in 1970. The Medal may be awarded to any member of the Singapore Armed Forces or the Singapore Police Force who has performed any act or series of acts constituting distinguished conduct in active service in the field. The Medal may, in special circumstances, be awarded to any person engaged in operational duties whose acts or series of acts constitute distinguished conduct. The Medal may be awarded posthumously.
