Habitat

Ruditapes largillierti buries shallowly in protected fine, muddy to clean sand or fine gravel, in low intertidal areas to 20 m in depth.

Description

Ruditapes largillierti is a large, oval shaped bivalve. The valves have numerous, irregular concentric ridges, that become coarser towards the posterior ends of the valves. Juvenile specimens often have intricate, brown coloured zigzag patterns on the valves.

Coloration is yellow-white, inside and out, occasionally brown.
