The seven bowls (Greek: φιάλας, phialas, sing. φιάλη phialē; also translated as cupsorvials) are a set of plagues mentioned in Revelation 16.[1] They are recorded as apocalyptic events that were seen in the vision of the RevelationofJesus Christ, by John of Patmos. Seven angels are given seven bowls of God's wrath, each consisting of judgements full of the wrath of God.[2][3] These seven bowls of God's wrath are poured out on the wicked and the followers of the Antichrist[4] after the sounding of the seven trumpets.[5]
Loathsome Sores. So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful sores came upon the people who bore the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.[6] “The unseen mark, which identifies a person’s loyalty to a false god, is now made visible in the festering boils. The outer corruption of their flesh parallels their inner corruption.”[7]
The second bowl: the sea turns to blood. Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died.[8]
The waters turn to blood. Then the third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. And I heard the angel of the waters saying:

When the fourth bowl is poured out, the sun causes a major heatwave to scorch the planet with fire. The incorrigible wicked refuse to repent while they blaspheme the name of God.[10]
When the fifth bowl is poured out, a thick darkness overwhelms the kingdom of the beast. The wicked continue to stubbornly defame the name of God while refusing to repent and glorify God.[11]
When the sixth bowl is poured out, the great river Euphrates dries up so that the kings of the east might cross to be prepared to battle. Three unclean spirits with the appearance of frogs come, one each, out of the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. These demonic spirits work Satanic miracles to gather the nations of the world to battle against the forces of good during the Battle of Armageddon. Jesus says that his coming will be like that of a thief in the night, urging his followers to stay alert.[12] The great eschatological battle is not described in Rev. 16, for it was already won on the cross.[13]
When the seventh bowl is poured out, a global earthquake causes the cities of the world to collapse. All the mountains and islands are removed from their foundations. Giant hailstones weighing around 75 pounds or 35 kilograms plummet onto the planet. The plagues are so severe that the wicked's hatred of God intensifies while the incorrigible continue to curse God.[14]
