Shpagiza (Pashto : شپږيزه) also written as Shpageeza (means SIXES) is a Twenty20 cricket tournament where 5 different zones teams accross Afghanistan participate for the title. The tournament started in 2013 and from then it usually takes place every year. The most recent edition is the Shpagiza (second edition) held in August/September 2014. It is currently supervised by ACB Vice-President Dost Mohammad Nazari, who serves as the League's chairman and Commissioner.[1]
History
The League was established in 2013 with the first season running through that year. 5 zone teams were concurrently established in 2013 to become the inaugural competitors. Afghanistan Cricket Board announced a second season of the competition will be held in August/September 2014.[2]
Teams
This 5 zone teams are participating in the Shpagiza tournament of T20 format are;
Spinghar Prangan (Spinghar Tigers ), captained by Afghan star fast bowler Hamid Hassan and coached by Hasti Gul . Which represents the provinces of Kunar , Nooristan , Laghman and Nangarhar .[3]
Band-e-Amir Khamaran (Band-e-Amir Dragons ), captained by Afghan star all-rounder and concurrent national captain Mohammad Nabi and coached by Australian coach Peter William Anderson . Which represents the provinces of Kabul , Kapisa , Maidan Wardak , Parwan , Bamyan , Dai Kundi and Panjsher .
Bost Satunki (Bost defenders ), captained by Afghan left arm fast bowlerShahpur Zadran and coached by Abdul Wali Amin . Which represents the provinces of Kandahar , Helmand , Uruzgan , Zabul , Nimroz , Herat , Farah , Ghor and Badghis .
Mes Ainak (Mes Ainak Knights ), captained by former Afghan national captain Nawroz Mangal and coached by Raees Ahmadzai . Which represents the provinces of Khost , Logar , Paktia , Paktika and Ghazni .
Amu Nehangan (Amu Sharks ), captained by Afghan national medium fast bowler Mirwais Ashraf and coached by Dawlat Ahmadzai . Which represents the provinces of Kunduz , Takhar , Jawzjan , Badakhshan , Balkh , Baghlan , Samangan , Sar-i-Pul and Faryab .
Champions
The champion of 2013 edition was the Spinghar Prangan (Speenghar Tigers). The 2014 edition is ongoing.
Performance by Team
Spinghar Prangan win the 2013 final by super over. while Band-e-Amir Dragons have won all it's games in concurrent edition yet. Band-e-Amir is coached by Australian cricket coach Peter William Anderson .
TV Rights
The tv rights are won by the Afghan chanel named 1TV .
