Splash Damage is an independent British game development company that specializes in multiplayer first-person shooter games and has released a number of innovative PC games, best known as the creator of the Enemy Territory franchise.

History

Splash Damage was formed in May 2001 by the creators of high profile free mods such as Quake 3 Fortress.

Splash Damage began life working with Now TV and Gamer.tv, providing both custom maps and an in-game television production solution. Splash Damage staff worked to produce and present over 150 TV shows based on Quake III Arena Capture the Flag.

In March 2002, Splash Damage partnered with Games Domain to produce a number of multiplayer maps for their online gaming service. One of the maps released for Return to Castle Wolfenstein was based on operation Market Garden, the map was hugely successful online becoming the most played 3rd party maps.

This naturally led on to the development Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory which was released online free on May 29, 2003. Enemy Territory has won many awards and remains one of the most popular online first-person shooter titles.

Splash Damage also created content for Doom 3's multiplayer mode and have recently released a, heavily modified, Doom 3 engine follow-up to Enemy Territory based on the Quake series.

Future

In May 22, 2008 - Bethesda Softworks best known for its 2006 game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, announced a long-term development partnership with Splash Damage, details about this brand-new project will be provided in the coming months. [2]
