It seems pretty clear that the original article, full of puffery and NGO advocacy, has been created almost entirely from the organization's own POV by an editor with a conflict of interest. I have tried to clean up most of the worst problems, but the entire article needs more work from uninvolved interested editors to clean up this self-promotional NGO homepage and include more independent sources if available. :Hello, I am a staff member at Village Enterprise and we are happy to work with the editorial team at Wikipedia to answer any questions about the organization. I also want to point out several articles that could be of use to updating the page—Village Enterprise recently received a Fast Company World Changing Ideas Award for their DREAMS for Refugees project with Mercy Corps, they also received a $7 million dollar donation from MacKenzie Scott in 2023, the Village Enterprise Development Impact Bond was studied in an RCT by IDinsight (see report here) and featured in a 2022 Brookings event, and their CEO Dianne Calvi was honored with the President's Award for the Advancement of the Common Good from Stanford University in 2023 and she also had an op-ed published in Fortune on World Refugee Day in 2023. |

== Page Rewrite == |

I have rewritten the article as it was inaccurate and had improper sourcing. Please note that I do work at Village Enterprise as I have stated in my user profile. In my rewrite, I have tried to be as impartial as possible, and I have submitted my draft for review through Articles for Creation. I have also asked questions to a few editors on their talk pages to try to ensure I am following all of Wikipedia's guidelines and protocols. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions about the rewrite, and thank you for your review. :After receiving feedback from @SafariScribe that the draft was declined because of too many primary sources, I have gone into the draft and removed most of the primary sources as requested and replaced them with better sources. One thing to note, I did leave one primary source about Village Enterprise's mission statement as I feel that it is important to the Wikipedia page and it has not been published outside of their own primary materials (website, annual report). However, I looked at some other pages and saw that this was common for companies and nonprofits. The following pages have some primary sources — Apple Inc., Facebook, Amazon (company) — as well as other nonprofits similar to Village Enterprise such as One Acre Fund, The BOMA Project, Charity: Water. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions about the rewrite. BrettSlezak (talk) 02:25, 12 July 2024 (UTC) |
