Welcome to my user page!
I do have a guestbook, and you may sign it here if you wish. |
Hello, everyone. I primarily fight vandalism, spam, and sometimes somebody on the list of the most wanted users on the English Wikipedia. In addition to fighting local vandalism and spam on this project, I am also active on other projects; you'll most likely find me on the Simple English and Spanish Wikipedias, and Meta-Wiki.
Again, I'm a Wikipedian who eats vandalism/spam for breakfast and fights LTAs, but I'm also a dude in real life attending college. Despite my nickname being 64andtim, my name is not actually Tim. Any other username that rhymes with my username is most likely an impersonator, including 666&tim and most notably 63andtim, whom they may be blocked forever and probably locked globally.
I first started to edit Wikipedia by creating my user page, with some userboxes and some text. My second edit included this diff that some people may call this a mistake, but I was a very new user at the time and I was trying to help the project, rather than just harm it. After installing RedWarn, it made my life so much easier when reverting vandalism and spam, but sometimes (and rarely) I make some kind of mistake by accident.
You may call me 64andtim, 64, or Tim (but again, the latter is not my real name, and thus my real name remains confidential).
Now obviously, I use AntiVandal on my college laptop or on a random computer, Huggle on my personal laptop, Twinkle for a variety of tasks, Ultraviolet for reverting and warning users, and SWViewer on my iPhone.
When I got rollback enabled on my account, I've started using tools and scripts that require rollback to fight vandalism and spam much easier and faster than if I were to manually revert or undo such edits. I use Selective Rollback to massively revert a user's edits (mass/rapid vandalism or spam), add an edit summary when I revert, and others. Next, I became a pending changes reviewer, which allows me to review and revert edits on pages protected by pending changes. My CVUA training page can be found here, and while you might see some errors I have made, that training greatly enhanced my ability to identify vandalism in which it requires my judgment and senses.
For other stuff that's related to vandalism and spam, sometimes I encounter grossly offensive/libelous or promotional usernames (both would obviously have to be reported if they do their stuff which includes vandalism or promotional edits that I have to revert). When dealing with cross-wiki vandalism and spam, I use SWViewer and the abuse filter log on Meta-Wiki.
For somebody on the list of the most wanted (aka LTAs), I know some of them and I can tell by their activities and habits. While reverting their edits, I deny recognition to them. Sometimes, they can vandalize other projects and I have to go there to "clean up" after them (and report to SRG of course). Anyway, for the English Wikipedia, a specific LTA sometimes can make me lose my calm a little bit.
If somebody claims to be me and asks you to create an article in exchange for money, don't accept their offer at all as it is a scam; the same goes for someone impersonating me and soliciting paid editing work just for you; you should forward the evidence directly to paid-en-wpwikipedia.org for AfC scams, or legalwikimedia.org for paid editing work claims.
For speedy deletions, I mostly tag promotional user pages under G11 and other user pages/sandboxes that apply under U5.
I respond to false positives from edit filters on Wikipedia:Edit filter/False positives/Reports, and participate at the edit filter noticeboard. For now, I do not have the edit filter helper user right, but I would like to help out in reducing the backlog of private filter false positives, and to view their logs as part of my anti-vandalism work to identify certain LTAs. For those who are interested in helping out with edit filter FPs, I would highly recommend using FilterDebugger.
I was blocked for one week because somebody thought I engaged in the good and bad hands of sockpuppetry, but that wasn't the case at all; an LTA made multiple accounts to impersonate me and some other users, and they were all blocked forever but that included me (1 week) and my alternative account (forever). Hours later, both of my legitimate accounts were unblocked per some discussion about my block on my talk page. You may wish to view my block log if you want.
Anyway, goodbye to my no-block streak.
I have never edited Wikipedia for pay, and I will never plan to do so in the future, unless if stated otherwise.
I operate an alternative account, 64andsomeone (talk · contribs), which is used on public computers, unsecure networks, and/or when my main account could be potentially compromised. For security purposes, I have enabled two-factor authentication on my main account, and on all projects.
If you want to leave me a message, I will be more than happy to respond to your message on my my user talk page, or if you have any sensitive concerns, emailing me is preferred. If you leave me a message in Spanish, I will reply in that language in my talk page here or on eswiki.
One more thing, I am a mentor, and if you are a new user in need of help, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page.

The Death of Marat is a 1793 painting by Jacques-Louis David depicting the artist's friend and murdered French revolutionary leader, Jean-Paul Marat. It was painted when David was the leading French Neoclassical painter, a Montagnard, and a member of the revolutionary Committee of General Security. Created in the months after Marat's death, the painting shows Marat lying dead in his bath after his murder by Charlotte Corday on 13 July 1793. Art historian T. J. Clark called David's painting the first modernist work for "the way it took the stuff of politics as its material, and did not transmute it".Painting credit: Jacques-Louis David
